Hifonics ZXE12S4

At the heart of the HiFonics ZEUS EVOLUTION subwoofers are powerful Y35 magnet drivers with a diameter of 140 mm, driving a large 64 mm voice coil. These are ventilated through thermally optimized pole core vents. Additionally, so-called "reinforced" T-plates ensure even greater excursion, reaching up to +/- 17 mm (X-Max).

While pressed paper cones are usually used in budget subwoofers, the ZXE subs rely on expensive, handmade paper cones that are double-stitched at the surround—well-known for their excellent sound quality. All these ingredients give the ZXE subs an extremely high efficiency of 92 or 90 dB at 2.83 volts/1 m. Even with a small amplifier, these subs already produce high volume levels.

The Thiele-Small parameters are designed so that the ZXE subs can be used to build powerful vented enclosures with respectable depth, as well as medium-sized sealed enclosures. Even "free air" setups are possible.

The Zeus subwoofers also do justice to the HF style when it comes to looks: a newly designed gasket, the blue magnet cover typical of HiFonics, and the blue-stitched cone surround proudly display the HiFonics branding.
