Unprocessed copper is soft, but it hardens when worked. This means that processed copper, such as in tube terminals, can spring back to its original shape if crimped around a cable. You can soften processed copper again through annealing—a process where the copper is heated to 400°C and then cooled.
To ensure that our tube terminals do not spring back, they are annealed twice (hence the term double annealing). This makes them soft and easy to crimp. They only harden after being firmly crimped onto the cable, allowing the crimp to maintain consistent contact pressure throughout the entire lifespan of the cable.
