Unprocessed copper is soft but hardens when worked. This means that processed copper, such as in tube terminals, tends to spring back to its original shape when crimped around a cable. You can soften processed copper again by annealing it—a process where the copper is heated to 400°C and then cooled.
To ensure our tube terminals do not spring back, they are annealed twice (hence the term double annealing). This makes them soft and easy to crimp, and they only harden once the terminal is firmly crimped onto the cable. As a result, the crimp maintains consistent contact pressure throughout the entire lifespan of the cable.
